For the record, I (an engineer) test my own designs (both installation and performance) and sometimes fab them myself to identify pain points, something I encourage for all engineers.

Not as clever as a machinist when it comes to techniques for manufacturing, but I generally try to avoid the need for such techniques if I can. But sometimes it’s necessary.

Late one night, zooming home on my motorcycle on a toll road in California after working late on the job, sun had fully set.

There was a 15ft ladder diagonal on the road across one and a half lanes. I was in the half lane it wasn’t, simply zoomed past. I later called CHP about it, guess it got taken care of, but i doubt I was fast enough to prevent an accident.

I never forget that when it’s dark and the urge to crank it kicks in.

Gonna keep striving to give working people safety, the ability to have a reliable roof and food, and to start a family if they desire, and the right to skip that family part if they want.

People keep suggesting that’ll change as I get older, but I seem to get ever more invested about it as the years go by. I’m not sure why anyone would go against those principles, but here you are.

I’d wish you the same, if it were affordable. Trade schools, universities etc should be free.

Comes with being educated. We know how to ask questions and poke holes in bullshit ideas.
