RIP kbin.social. We hardly knew ye.
Depends on how good they are at it. If pedestrian drech is all they have to offer I’ll spin 'em dizzy and set 'em straight. If they’ve got art, game recognizes game.
Absolutely. I’ve had two episodes of sleep paralysis in my life that we’re accompanied by some intense dream imagery and audio hallucination. And I’ve had one extremely potent nightmare that easily could have otherwise passed as an alien abduction incident.
Those three were a rush to fully awake from. The abduction one woke me from a dead sleep as they were inserting an instrument into my navel. 10/10 would do again.
Bandcamp, 100%. I’m under the impression that it’s the best third party platform for forwarding the biggest percentage of sales to the actual musicians. If there’s a better one I’d love to hear about it. That’s the most important thing to me before anything else.
Mostly what I see with any level of frequency is troll posters spamming intentionally inflammatory memes in apparently random communities. I’ve reported and blocked every post like this that I’ve come across.
You only think it’d be weird not to acknowledge it because you’re used to it being acknowledged. There is no real necessary follow up.
I’d been dissatisfied with Reddit for a while due to things like hive mind mentality and jokes repeated ad nauseum. I always enjoyed more when people were just posting their honest opinions or analysis of current events from a perspective that I don’t have. There wasn’t really anywhere else to go as an active “forum based” aggregator, so when the ground swell of people leaving due to the API fiasco came along and enough of a crowd started setting up shop on a different platform I jumped at the opportunity to ditch that place.
Glad to be done with it.
Anybody else get irked that people increasingly seem to not know the proper distinction between worse and worst? I see people frequently using the wrong one in the context of what they are trying to say. I just don’t understand because bad/worse/worst is as simple of a concept as good/better/best which people don’t tend to ever get wrong.
Also, the custom of saying ‘bless you’ after somebody sneezes. That can go away now. It’s utterly useless. Somebody sneezed, that doesn’t deserve any special acknowledgement. If there’s a want to be polite offer them a tissue if they need it and you can accommodate.
The Seventh Seal [Ingmar Bergman, 1957]
As the plague ravages Scandinavia, a Swedish crusader returning home is greeted at the shore of his homeland by Death. To buy enough time to make it back to see his wife he challenges Death to a game of chess.
A film about different human reactions to the inevitability of death. One of Bergman’s masterworks.
Got a session of Pathfinder in with my group who seems plagued by the scheduling monster. Always glad to get a session in when we can.
A couple YouTube channels I regularly turn to:
The Exploring Series - He does read throughs of SCP files and Lovecraft stuff, as well as other things. His voice and inflection are excellent for being calming, but not hammy like a lot of sleep story channels.
Astrum - Astronomy and physics related material. Also an excellent voice for this purpose.
Otherwise I sometimes just pull up a dungeon synth album that has the right mood that I’m feeling for the night.
