Nah we’re trying to get away from it, too.
Nah we’re trying to get away from it, too.
I’m not enough of an expert to explain it better, but I remember reading about a guy who came on board with google, and took over search. He had an initiative to keep people on google longer. That’s my memory of it at least.
In the case of google they purposely made it worse so that people spent more time on their site rather than other sites. This means they see more ads from google as opposed to ads on another website. They’ve just doubled down on this with AI summaries, too. Now they just blatantly take content from websites so you don’t have to go to the website that made it at all.
I guess it’s not surprising that this is also a google thing, but gmail’s. No matter what I type in it shows me my entire inbox practically. It’s so fuzzy it’s completely useless.
I guess I don’t know it. Oh well! I worked for Alphagraphics.
Which one was it out of curiosity? I also used to work in print in Seattle
I don’t really understand how it would be, since things get duplicated across any federated instances. If anything it amplifies the spam since it auto-dupes it everywhere.
You might say everyone could just defederate, but at that point the damage is done, no? Not to mention if they’re using bot armies they can just send them at any new instances that spin up.
Someone please let me know if I’m wrong, but I don’t see how Lemmy could withstand any amount or coordinated cyber attack or operation.
If dedicated security teams from fortune 500 companies can’t beat them, I don’t see how someone’s server in their garage is going to do it.
That third one definitely seems the most fun at a glance!
To login on different accounts I just make a private tab. Never tried the multi account thing you’re talking about.
The problem with trying to police the output is there isn’t a surefire way to detect the fact it’s generated. That’s why I prefer targeting the companies who created the problematic models.
If we’re going pie in the sky I would want to see any models built on work they didn’t obtain permission for to be shut down.
Failing that, any models built on stolen work should be released to the public for free.
I like my cat but I already see more of his butt than I’d like to, so I don’t get this obsession either.
Next they’ll tell me that people on the internet have strong opinions they don’t mind sharing!
I’ve been here since the third party app culling and it’s been steadily growing I think from my anecdotal feels when using it. It definitely has a long way to go to replace what reddit was, but hopefully it just keeps growing bit by bit. I see posts like yours frequently these days so you’re definitely not the only one leaving.
Money is unavoidable but you don’t have to do a typical career. Maybe you could try one of those English teaching jobs overseas, or be a nomad doing odd jobs here and there and traveling around. Lots of paths out there, and some might be more care free than a typical 9-5.
Have you considered becoming a student? You might be able to get financial aid. It might not cover 100%, but you’d get to be around young people also discovering themselves.
You definitely didn’t deserve what you got. I hope you can find a path that feels at least a little more like what you want to be doing.
To be fair to obsidian the distribution choices have nothing to do with the people who make the game part. You can have great devs with a greedy publisher.
That’s good to know, though I wouldn’t know how to do the initial setup either. 😅
Simple to say, not so simple to do. I’d love to honestly.
