just because it doesn’t typically work that way doesn’t mean it shouldn’t. blocking should absolutely be a two person thing. block from contact and communication, and block the person from being able to stalk and retaliate or harass you in return.
why is it bad to want that?
it does? i don’t see that option anywhere.
edit: of course the second I comment I find the option lol
second edit: hit the settings wheel at the bottom. its on that page.
mazel tov. but I was asking the other commenter.
how did you find Lemmy? did you find out through reddit?
ive been here over a year now and I sure did. haven’t used reddit since.
if you didn’t come here from reddit, I’d be curious to hear where you did come from before making a Lemmy account.
oh it’s a relief that we have recently changed it. the bastard roku is completely locked out.
my roku TV felt my wrath because it dared to show me a banner ad while I was in the middle of a game.
i promptly disabled internet on it completely. now it’s a dumb TV. and my life is much better.
agreed. there is a way to keep that algorithm private. on a person to person case.
that information would just have to not be sold. thats the difference.
an algorithm wouldn’t be inherently evil. the data collected is what’s potentially dangerous. but if its kept to just your personal account, it could be quite safe
and make the app less of a chore to use.
i mean… a lot of the content on the fediverse is literally just lifted straight from the other “junk food” social media websites that were just named.
its just a federated experience. not a “healthy” one. I’m all for moving more people over to the fediverse but let’s maybe take it down a couple notches with the weird propaganda-esque ads?
it quite annoys me as well. “No annoying algorithms!”
…great. so it will never learn what content I actually like to see and will feed me random crap I don’t want to see.
i get like the same 5 videos of someone walking around outside and a couple of ads for stuff I’m not even remotely interested in.
i am so happy for you. unfortunately i am still waiting.
update: I am in! hooray!
(app looks clean af as well)
still waiting for an email about account registration from them.
yes it is. what they’re doing is shitty, not illegal.
"Hey don’t use emulators to play our games we’re gonna sue you.
… and then just take that emulator software you made and sell it in our official devices. but still fuck you."
not illegal. just giant assholes with no sense of self-awareness.
in the past they have. i should have specified. i have no idea what they’re doing in their museums. but considering their history, I wouldn’t discount it.
files they’ve downloaded off the internet. its much easier for them and they only need to do a quick frontend to make it look official.
ezpz.
the “implication?” they’ve literally already sold consoles that have downloaded roms on them.
because they’re using the work of others for their own profits.
that’s so scummy. way to get users to shrug and watch it on a pirate site instead. if that was their goal, they’ve done well!
doing a search just now, I saw two pop up. super functional as well.
these fellas ain’t too bright. let’s continue to allow them to think they are.
Minetest sadly doesn’t have the robust modding scene that Java minecraft has.
Minetest is cool to play around with, but its more like a resource for testing stuff than an actual game.
