Memes no, but I’ve found a lot of value in things like my hometown has a pretty active sub on Reddit which is useful for local information or subs around specific TV shows or video games bring a lot of interesting discussion or just asking questions on niche topics I’m much more likely to get an answer from a larger user base.

This for sure. It’s something severely lacking at Lemmy, without the large user base the small communities can’t sustain the way they do on Reddit. Lemmy serves best as a replacement for the biggest subs.

George Clooney liked the show so much he wanted to be on the show but they rejected his request initially since they don’t let famous people play themselves. They in turn offered him the non-speaking role of Stan’s gay dog. Clooney showed up and gave a full performance of barks.

The other day I needed to set up a node service with an HTML front-end that allows me to upload files from a browser that end up on my machine hosted in a docker container. Something like this would take me the better part of a day to complete. Through a series of prompts I got what I needed deployed in less than an hour.

Then unit tests. Sometimes all I need is good code coverage and since it’s just tests you can verify the quality of the generated code if it runs and covers the lines you want. I’ve saved a ton of hours of tedious code coverage work this way.

But let’s be real though. Getting a car and driving it a crowd on purpose is an extraordinarily small percentage of car users. You can’t say the same about emulation. A torrent site I frequent has 28000 downloads of Smash Bros Ultimate. I don’t believe for a second there are 28000 broken copies people are trying to replace.

Don’t get me wrong, I love emulation. It has huge benefits! Access to out of print games, higher framerates and resolutions. But I’m not going to pretend piracy isn’t a massive component of it, particularly on current gen systems.
