Not in the “hate” camp, but I’m very picky with anime. I recognize it’s a wide genre with tons of legitimately great productions.

There’s a lot of anime stuff that just irritates me for reasons I’ve not been able to put into words other than “it makes me cringe from embarrassment.” Female characters that are less an interesting or fun character and more like an endless void of cutesy vibes and nothing more, the anime pratfalls to punctuate a joke, weird creepy stuff towards women, laughably edgy characters, changing art styles to something tonally clashing for comedic effect (only example I know off the top of my head is in Hellsing Ultimate, which I’ll admit I’ve only seen in the form of the abridged series), overtly blatant fan service, all the characters being teenagers, etc. Tropes like these tend to irritate me to the point of getting in the way of my enjoyment of a show and it kills a lot of anime for me.

It’d probably depend on the game, but see if there’s any source ports for the games in question. DSDA Doom, for example, adds modern wide-screen support to classic Doom and has heaps of fantastic options for different compatibility levels for different custom map sets. GZDoom is also an option if you want gameplay mods (shame it’s so inefficient lol).

Zip drives were sadly before my time, but I actually managed to find one in the wild! A parallel port drive in clear blue plastic for $40 at a local used media shop. Just the loose drive and cable, no box or anything. Prooooobably a touch too pricey for a device that wouldn’t surprise me if it had the click of death.

Honestly I do kinda miss magnetic media like that! Having a big cartridge with moving parts ya shove into a slot just felt so nice when we used floppies as a very young kid.

I just don’t wanna see AskLemmy turn into AskReddit, is all. That sub frustrated me endlessly cause it could have been a great place for people to interact, tell interesting stories, discuss ideas and whatnot, but it turned into “do you agree with this opinion everybody here already agrees on” and “men/women, what sex do you sex the most?”

I ain’t a prude, but I don’t enjoy seeing something that could be a bastion for high brow content get turned into a breeding ground for boring, uninteresting slop.

Gonna take the L here since like ey, not a big issue at all lol. I just want more meaningful content than something with a single one word answer that I won’t remember in 5 minutes.
