They could create 6 accounts that post nothing but old memes all day every day

You’re not thinking critically when you start from a conclusion.
Agreed
That’s the opposite of critical thinking.
Agreed
That’s literally just continuing to believe and not question something.
Agreed

Did you write this with GPT? Skepticism and critical thinking are not biases.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I do not consider critical thinking skills to be a “viewpoint”. I consider them a requirement for intelligent conversation.

But there are dozens of people in this very thread who if I am understanding correctly are willing to offer the same service for free to prove their point that Plex is evil.

ok

idk I find $2/month to be very reasonable. I don’t feel squeezed.
EDIT: Just to be clear there is no amount of condescending replies form trilby wearing neckbeard keyboard warriors that will change my opinion.

I know it’s fashionable to shit on Plex here, but OP either has his server misconfigured or is just trying to stir the pot:
https://support.plex.tv/articles/202526943-plex-free-vs-paid/
Free to Use: Video (movies & TV) streaming of personal content on the same local network as the Plex Media Server

Also the weekly intentionally misunderstanding how Plex pass/Plex remote pass works in order to complain:
Free to Use: Video (movies & TV) streaming of personal content on the same local network as the Plex Media Server
Problem with that is there is no backup in case of flood/fire/tornado etc.
Anyone know of a good managed hosting (or vps) for Immich that doesn’t break the bank? I have about 5TB of photos/videos and I don’t feel safe without a remote backup. I played with self hosting and I really (really) like Immich but I keep Google photos/Drive just to ensure I won’t lose anything.

Hm I like that idea. That’s a bit out of my wheelhouse but worth looking into. Maybe also have two zones? A larger one to trigger the location update?

Hmm my phone always takes a few minutes to update that I’m home.

Ah ok thanks, so just to be clear, when you come home it will still “alert” you to an “intruder” (until your GPS updates presumably).

Pretty sure this article is AI slop. I just checked the subreddit, and it consists of 100% “critical” posts going back days.

That’s cool, so with the AI chip it can recognize individuals people and pets? Just wondering how you prevent it from alerting you for well, you.

Last I looked into this Frigate was the most robust path to take, they recommend cameras that are about $50-$100 each but in my playing around I connected a Yi camera ($10) with custom firmware.
That said it was all a bit over my head and I had trouble connecting it to home assistant and gave up
I would love a follow up post with whatever setup you go with!
I’ve suspected this was a thing for a while now but it’s nice to see someone naming names. Many subs ban MAGA/hateful content, so a workaround they use is sharing it “innocently” by someone who’s “confused as to what the controversy is”. A big one is right wings memes being posted in /r/peterexplainsthejoke with the user feigning ignorance as to their meaning. OOTL is another.
