I did exactly the same. I found lemmy through a reddit post about alternatives to Reddit. And after 13 years as a daily reddit user, once RIF went down, I haven’t gone back.

I do wish we’d get more traffic with the science communities but I’ve still noticed slow and steady growth since then.

Honestly… Maynard from TOOL. Tool is my favorite band for decades at this point but if anyone had to go, it would be him. We’d get more albums from Danny, Adam and Justin and none of the snobby asshole attitude MJK brings to the band. I’m not anti-MJK but I’d love to get a version of TOOL without him in the mix.

Oh boy… here we go. WTF could this even mean and how tf could possessing that super secret information that somehow every FB rando knows all about even remotely help op’s self inflicted dilemma. It’s so bizarre how they think.

The best I can ever do is learn more about the universe we live in. I don’t think we may ever have concrete answers for any of those questions. We may not even be asking the right questions to begin with. Science youtube channels scratch that inch for me though. PBS Space Time, Astrum, SEA and Arvin Ash’s channel are some of my favorites. Content a bit more in depth than the most basic but presented in a way a smooth brain like myself can mentally digest.

I work in the film business. Im one of the on set tech worker bees and the thing that annoys me most in movies is making them. What a shit industry. In the past +5 years of so, it has really gone down Hill. I’m an IATSE member and year after year these big studios have taken everything from us, refused to give reasonable raises, even if only to keep up with inflation, and the daily production demands get bigger and bigger, putting so much pressure on the crews. On top of all that, they brag about setting record profits every year while pretending to be shooting a huge film on a shoestring budget. I hate it and I’ve been trying to get into another industry but it’s so hard. It’s hard for me to enjoy movies anymore because I’m so resentful. I work on the big big stuff too so it’s not like I’m getting screwed over my little indie shit stain prod cos. These are the jobs people dream of and it’s not what you think it is and everyone hates it once they get here. It’s not the work itself though, it’s those you work for. Ignorant peanut counters and the precious shareholders ruin everything.

I use the Cinco Face Time Party Snoozer. I can be outgoing and social while catching up on some much needed ZzZz’s.
