  • There’s a metal identification tag that goes with the body the entire time it’s in the funeral home/crematorium, according to my partner who works at one. It gets taped to the outside of the urn.

That’s not foolproof though, the wrong ashes getting released to someone is rare but is usually easy to spot afterwards.

There’s no way for you to 100% guarantee that the ashes are your loved one, except that there’s no strong benefit to a crematorium doing that and heads would roll if they did.

There have been scandals where pets were cremated in bulk then the combined ashes divvied out, but not humans.

  • My understanding is that there is absolutely no evidence that trans women have an advantage. Once hormone therapy has been going for a while performance shows no statistical difference from women assigned female at birth. I was listening to a report on the radio just yesterday.

Additionally the number of trans athletes is incredibly small.

I’ve heard that the greatest correlation with Olympic medal tally is the amount of state funding for sports and sport sciences. If we’re going to asterisk any records, it should probably be for everyone from wealthy countries.

  • a unique quality to the feeling of it’s drive

I have to admit I’m skeptical, and not just because it sounds written by a marketing team.

Things like the subjective feeling of something are strongly socially determined. When we’re told something is fancy or high quality we have a different and better experience of that thing.

As humans it’s rarely possible to separate our experience of a thing from our judgements of the people and identities we associate with it.
