  • In a single person’s lifetime, we went from not flying to landing on the moon. We absolutely can produce AGI in most of our lifetimes. I predict within 15-20 years, we will have a functioning AGI. It may also need to coincide with actually figuring out quantum computing just for sheer computational needs.

    This all hinges on if investments in AI continue at its current pace, which we already see cracks in though.





  • Grew up on well water, it tasted funny. Most water I tried to drink was from water fountains, tasted like copper. First bottled water I drank was Deja Blue, and it tasted like hose water. So I thought all water tasted like ass.

    I didn’t get that water could taste good until I drank actual bottled spring water. Now I have nice water filters that make my tap taste just fine, and I know what brands of water to buy if I need to.







  • As the flipside to the question, pretty much any customer facing job like retail, sales, or food service have been spot on, especially if they are specifically calling those industries out. Superstore, Waiting, Office Space etc. are so damn accurate to the pain of working them.

    To the original question, I think it was mentioned earlier, but anything with a gun is typically wrong. The struggling artist who can afford immense loft apartments in downtown cities. Ghost hunting/supernatural expeditions are so glamorized. They NEVER tell you how much time it takes to review everything.






  • A core memory unlock scent for me is any time I smell honeysuckle. We had some where I grew up, and it just instantly takes me back.

    Others are a spray from Lush called sleepy time. It’s Lavender and Tonka, and it is the most calming scent I’ve ever been around.
    Dark chocolate. Good roasted coffee. Wife’s body spray Tea and Bergamont from bath and bodyworks.

    My weird ones are lumber and gasoline
