I remember that map, it was a great resource. Like you say, visualizing defederations would be especially helpful.

I think you may be right. Would be very unfortunate.
It’s a damn shame because Sync is absolutely excellent, but it’s already had several quite severe bugs gone unfixed for over a year now, and it will stop working altogether with Lemmy 1.0.
If you’re looking for an alternative Summit has been great, and the developer is super active and responsive. It’s without a doubt the best alternative, in my opinion.
People smarter than me will need to weigh in on the scalability of Python vs Rust, but if that’s not a concern then that may be what happens.
Probably requires something like Lemmy.World doing a migration, though. Lemmy as a software still has the highest pull by way of being the the predominant one. That’s just how people work.
Also Piefed needs more apps. The huge variety of Lemmy apps is a massive draw at the moment.
Piefed are working on flairs, let’s hope the Lemmy devs follow suit!
Presumably uBlock Origin.

Holy growth!
Boost is nice but I can’t deal with the lack of swipe gesture actions at this point in time. No other app has been a perfect substitute for Sync but after trying basically all of them I find Summit to be both the best right now but more importantly - the most promising for the future. Very active dev who is responsive and accommodating user requests.
It’s great that Piefed is adding them, but as long as Lemmy is the largest bulk of users it won’t really be all that impactful. Flairs lose their utility (or fun, depending on the type and context) when only like 1% of the users can see them.
I do miss user flairs. I hope Lemmy adds then too eventually.
The right-wing billionaire’s platform has recently lost about 10 percent of its European user base.
It’s a good start but we gotta pump those numbers up.
I’m using Summit. It also has a few niggles and missing features but I believe it will get there in the future. I’ve tried almost all the available apps and Summit felt the best for me overall.
And at least the dev is active and responsive. Well, he has been at least. He’s been gone for a few weeks with IRL interference but he’s said it is temporary.
It doesn’t change the nature or the fact Sync is broken and has stopped working in major areas where it impedes function.
This is really the core issue right here. Long periods of inactivity from ljdawson was more acceptable on Reddit as the backend software didn’t change much so the app at least kept working. It’s been over a year since the last update here and Sync for Lemmy still has some serious problems.
It’s a shame because I love the app, but I’ve felt forced to move on.

Holy growth Batman! Great to see for one of the best communities on the platform.

Activity in random small niche subs? It’s tiny, but a great sign nonetheless.
I really should participate more in that community. It’s just a little tough that some of my favourite poetry isn’t in English and finding good translations is hard-to-impossible. As the often paraphrased quote by Robert Frost says, poetry is what gets lost in translation.

Love it! Props to @[email protected] for laying the groundwork for so long.
If we know anything about evolution it’s that everything will one day become crab. Reddit is just planning for the future by preemptively outlawing anti crab language.
My meagre contributions pale in comparison to your efforts, but I do what I can.
Would be a great service for the community to have it up and running again.
