I honestly didn’t even think about it from that point of view. That’s a really interesting perspective. I’ve known instances of Americans going overseas and realizing they are suddenly a minority. They do not like it at all.

That was the general consensus from what I read about using the term “minority”. As someone who has been labeled a minority their entire life, the term didn’t strike me as odd from a technical standpoint point, but I can see where it would not sit well for many people.
I’ve gone down the rabbit hole and gsm is apparently a common incorrect way to say it. Also a lot of LGBTQ people dislike the term.
I just learned about GSM two days ago here on Lemmy. Now I am learning about GRSM, and while I like both, learning that there is now an additional letter leads me to believe it may go down the same rabbit hole.
I have to assume people will have different ideas of minimal, but I just watched Love Me, and I think it counts

A windows app that shows you the space things are taking up on your computer so you can easily delete them. Usually helps me clear out a ton of space.
Thank you. I should update my apps more often.
There is a waiting list, and not all those people have the time to wait. I’m sure insurance is also a large part.
Disassociating with old comments and posts would be a good way to go, but I’m not really sure that’s an option for the fediverse? In theory couldn’t someone in the future set up an instance whose sole purpose is just back up and collect data? How would someone even go about trying to erase themselves from a situation like that?
There is one worry I have about Lemmy being the knowledge of anything and it’s what happened on reddit. Many people went through and nuked their comments, essentially making many posts useless. There are already people here on lemmy that delete their profiles, comments and start over every few months. Not really sure what that means for all the federation, but I assume different instances may have different versions of deleted information in the long run?
I lived in Cincinnati over a decade ago and back then they were accepting of different people. Columbus is 3x the size so you should generally be fine. Just be aware of who you are spending your time with, and you are likely safer in numbers.
I have this mental issue with the number pad as well. My solve is having a separate number pad to the left side, which frees up the right side for the mouse.
Unfortunately yes. Instagram is tied to my industry and work, so I don’t think I’ll be able to fully get away from social media.
This was going to my answer as well. While spelling on the internet is pretty bad, English isn’t the primary language of many people on Lemmy.
That unfortunately ends up being the dynamics of these kinds of posts. I usually try to upvote only with what I believe is an actual unpopular opinion for the sake of the question.
Thank you for teaching me sarcasm, I am in your debt. I’m also not an expert, and she’s not obese since she’s a personal trainer. You also forgot that she had a friend who also lived in the city she visited, for years might I add. It’s not just her experience. I also don’t think anyone was putting into question how fucked up the US is, because it most definitely is. The OP was asking a specific question and I answered it.
You obviously know I meant the opposite. Not all of China is advanced. There were indeed homeless people and likely junkies. You can go into my post history if you want to see the longer story.
I didn’t even mean trauma from the gov’t, which is a whole different level, but trauma from its own people. My wife traveled to China for work and it was not great for her.
It’s been done in a few places. Fallout and Starwars have been mentioned, but there is also the Maniac series. And while not as hopeful as your example, Blade Runner and Dune also stagnated in terms on communication with no internet.
