The original quote is a horrible take, trying to make people with suicidal thoughts feel guilty about themselves, as if they don’t feel shit enough yet.

The thing is, suicide is only an out if the pain is beyond a single person’s capacity to bear. Yes, the act may inflict pain upon others, but generally not to the same amount, or most suicides would set off a chain reaction. So chill out and don’t try to blame those are already feeling down.

Of course none of this is an endorsement of suicide. If you’re having these thoughts, please find help. Here in the Netherlands you can call 113, and other countries might have their own support lines. Hell, shoot me a DM if you feel the need.

I did have a friend of mine commit suicide many years ago. It’s not an experience you wish upon anyone, and I’m talking about both the experience of the suicidal as well as the survivors. But I do believe a large part of the pain can be prevented by sharing your thoughts, so that you can get out of the negative spiral you may reinforcing on yourself. So talk to someone. Anyone.

Suicidal people are supposed to suffer so that others don’t. Make that make sense.

Well, given where it’s posted, I’d argue that it is a bit of a dick move to kill yourself in a way that hurts others.

I’m obviously for saving people from suicide if possible, but if someone is forsaken by capitalism, has no one that can help them, and does commit suicide, there are nicer ways to do it than throwing yourself in front of a vehicle (train, car, whatever) and scarring someone else for life.

The act of suicide though, is not a dick move, but rather a failure of society to take care of everyone.

This sign assumes someone will care if I disappear, which sadly is not true.

I don’t want to get into a big debate or anything, but as someone who has attempted twice before getting help, and has lost three brothers to suicide, I can tell you that you never know how many people do care about you. I hope things get better, stay safe and know that at least one internet stranger honestly does give a fuck.

They probably do, but you may have missed the signs. It might not always be an obvious sign (why would I tell my friends I care for them when in my mind, that’s a given?) but perhaps in indirect ways, like inviting you to events or outings, just sitting and listening to what you have to say, going shopping with you, just messaging you and saying hello, I could go on.

In my experience, depression can obscure these signs, but if you reflect on the interactions you’ve had with them, it might highlight them.

It also assumes that people who reath that point are capable of caring, which is also usually not true

Well, kinda correct. I just want my pain to stop. But honestly, if I had someone that loved me I wouldn’t even think about the rope. After all, I want it because I don’t have nobody to hold in my arms. Maybe I’m selfish, I don’t know… Is it really selfish to desire warmth of another? I don’t know shit about anything.

So if I’m deliberating between staying alive and making everyone around me miserable including myself, versus killing myself and only making everyone around me miserable, I think the second option still comes out as a net positive.

If staying alive makes others miserable, well, they arent people you should be worried about. Fuck em.

I hope those suicidal thoughts leave you . We will die soon enough, enjoy what you can with this current consciousness.

spite towards said others has kept me alive before. outlived all but one of 'em so far and i can tell you dancing on an enemy’s grave is as satisfying as it sounds
