Why take it offsite then?
Speaking only for myself, a lot of the videos posted directly on site don’t work for me. Something about they aren’t encoded right for iPhone. I do wish it was more seamless.
I know that sometimes people have problems with accessing catbox due to issues with certain areas and ISPs and also DNS servers either blocking or being blocked. The MIME type problem that sometimes arises I don’t quite know what that’s about, maybe the issues will disappear when the site is upgraded to the latest Lemmy release tomorrow.
All of my posts are hosted elsewhere to try to reduce lemmynsfw.com’s server overheads but the content should open natively on the site, so for instance OP could host their content on catbox or imgbox, still have control of their content and users could see it here without clicking through to another site which helps lemmynsfw with engagement.

It’s a fair point and I said here that if you were looking to host off-site you could use imgbox or catbox (Catbox permanently hosts files of up to 200MB) or perhaps Redgifs might be easier for your workflow because I think it will encode/ compress it for you automagically. The advantage of using one of these hosts is you can post the vide link here in the url box on the create post form and it will open on this site which means you’re not taking lemmy users off-site because we’re all trying to grow a garden here.
I do post Redgifs here too. But again, those can only be one minute long max. I can’t believe I have to defend myself for where I wanna post my own content that I don’t even charge for. People should be more thankful and act less like I owe them anything. Really takes the fun away

It’s called critcism. Obviously there’s nothing to be done as a viewer and I’m not about to start some harassment campaign against her, oh dear white knight. Just a point though, it’s rather difficult to enjoy content that has chance to suddenly disappear before it’s even possible to see it.
Sorry if I am being a bit overzealous. I see so many people who seem to feel entitled to telling and judging her what to do with her content without any thought for the risks and concerns she and other content creators like her has to consider. We tend to take this content for granted.

I was already disinclined to be bothering with her stuff now that I know how easy it’ll be to miss content but if I risk interacting with people with a chip as big as yours on your shoulder then it’s an easy decision.
