Does anyone know of a self hosted service that does kids sticker charts? Here’s what I had in mind:
Kid interface:
- Tablet with browser open, shows a column per kid with name at the top plus how many stickers are available
- Kid can click the + button and choose a sticker to add to their sticker chart (unless they have run out)
Adult interface:
- Ability to add to the available stickers for a child
Basically, kid does something good, adult adds an available sticker for the kid, kid gets to choose the sicker and see it on the sticker chart.
Anyone got any suggestions for anything that even remotely resembles what I’m looking for?
Does self-host have to be computer-based? I would self-host a whiteboard with some dividers on it and get some cute magnets. Have something on the wall that the kiddos can look at when they walk by and be proud of and also to get them off the damn tablet for once! ( I don’t have kids)
I guess it doesn’t have to be computer-based 😆. But I think the problem I’m looking to solve is that a computer based one you can prevent them stealing from others, or from adding their own stickers from other places and claiming they are for the chart.
I guess an actual sticker chart with some distinctive stickers would solve that issue. But once you’ve had a taste you want self hosted services to solve all of life’s problems 😆
My kids also don’t really use the tablets (they aren’t generally available to them). We have two old ones that never get used.
Having a computer-based one that’s the source of truth (and perhaps accessible online) does make sense, although I suspect this is too niche to exist already.
I know these are famous last words, but this doesn’t sound too difficult to knock up yourself, assuming you know
kung-fucoding.My was considering knocking something together. I’m not super skilled but I’ve done a bit in PHP/Javascript which I think would do the job. I didn’t want to go making something if it already existed, though.
Now with the responses I’ve been talked into doing it on paper 🙂
Yup, and with @notthebees’ idea of taking photos as a backup you’ve got what you need.
a big piece of paper and some cool stickers is all you need. It’s more impressive when it’s tangible.
If you’re worried about stealing, put it a bit higher out of their reach and take photos of it after all the stickers are placed to keep track.
Yeah you’re probably right. I might give up on my self hosted dream and grab some paper and stickers instead.
With some sensors and home assistant, you could auto distribute stickers when the dog gets fed, teeth are brushed, various other things…
I agree, the physical part probably is more rewarding for the kids but misses out on statistics and scope creep and all the fun stuff for you.
You deserve a reward for being a good parent, and teaching your children responsibility!

Haha I’m glad someone gets me 😆

Really I’m just desperately trying to find the right bribe so they do what they are asked the first time (or at least by the third), since it’s the same every day…
https://yetch.store/products/every-day-goal-calendar For a physical/digital device. … way more expensive than I remember it being (especially given it’s single-user), but it’s a pretty good incentive to keep up with less-fun habits
Thanks! That’s an interesting implementation, I’ll read a bit more about what they’ve done.
