Apparently Lemmy supports up to 99 nested comments. But Sync doesn’t display more than 23 in portrait view or 46 in landscape view (on my OnePlus 5t at least). With an increasing number of comments the area where the actual comment is displayed decreases. At some point you can see nothing but the lines separating comments:
Is there a way to collapse this stack of comments or whatever to display all comments as supported by Lemmy?
There was a lot of chatter about this on this other post from a month or so ago, but I don’t remember any specific outcome: https://lemmy.world/post/5730713
Why does everyone suddenly have a boner for many levels deep in comments. These are edge cases.
Does that mean it shouldn’t be functional?
It means it’s very low priority.
Maybe for one liner discussions and smelling each other’s farts, but for in depth discussions is it not acceptable.
If you’re responding dozens of times on an Internet forum you got some issues. It’s rare that it happens for a reason
But it seems like such an easy fix - just add a maximum limit to the indent.
Everything seems easy until you sit down to code it. I don’t understand what’s hard to believe about something that’s taken months for people to notice (suddenly now the subject of multiple front page posts) not being the top priority
