It’s one thing to not understand that roads do not magically appear to facilitate your traveling (“not driving”), and that the privilege of using them is concomitant with obligations you have to fulfill. I think what they’re saying is that despite being “left”, they’re aware that in an inflationary economy an “interest-free loan” isn’t merely a opportunity-cost for the lender, it’s a concrete cost.
