Seems like a very US- and Xitter-/Facebook-centric phenomenon. I still don’t even know what sport the “Eagles” play, I have never heard of any of the people mentioned in the article and since I very rarely watch videos on my social media feeds my risk of learning a Philly accent seems rather low.

I think this is a very specific internet bubble and I think they are ignorant to the fact that the majority of people have no idea what they’re talking about.

The eagles probably play something with an egg or with feathers (or both maybe?). Seems logical. Can’t really help you with the rest though. It’s far too specialised for me.

My Philly accent was acquired through years of schooling and swearing. Philadelphia Freedom! I’ll see myself out.

Philly is inescapable. Though listening to Well There’s Your Problem has been definitely making me more aware of Philly

My only experience with Philadelphia is the airport and I’ve hated it every time. Love the cheesesteaks and the water ice, though.
